On this episode of Fake Doctors, Real Friends, Zach Braff and Donald Faison are very excited about their episode of Family Feud, their fancy interview with the Washington Post, and Donald’s daughter's first tooth falling out. (She got a whopping $20 for it “because the Tooth Fairy forgot to get change,” Donald’s wife, CaCee Cobb, laughs. “But, you want to know what’s even more f**ked up? I took it out of the kids’ piggy bank ‘cause I didn’t have any cash!”) And of course they talk about the Scrubs season four episode “My Drive By,” laughing about Dr. Kelso building a ramp on the roof and Elliott’s preferred sexual position (“on top, eyes closed, yelling, ‘Don’t look at me!’”). Then they talk to an ICU nurse named Neva about lessons they learned from the show that they still think about.

As usual, the jokes and plotlines on the show lead to hilarious and sometimes even profound tangents on the podcast: Donald isn’t sure J.D. knows what a “gangster lean” really is, which kicks off a discussion about Boyz In Da Hood and whether or not they should have an “Ask a Gangster” segment. (“You don’t want that smoke, man,” Donald says.) Elliott and her new crush put on Body Heat with Kathleen Turner to get into the mood, which Zach has never done. “Like, ‘Let’s Netflix and chill and watch 9 ½ Weeks,’” he jokes. Donald says when you’re truly Netflix and chilling, “you don’t put on a good movie….you’re like ‘Let’s watch John Carter.’” The Janitor lost the key to the mental health ward, so there’s a guy walking around smoking a gavel. “Where the f**k did he get a gavel?” Zach wonders, and Donald just laughs: “I’m telling you right now this show is made for stoners.”

Zach doesn’t think it’s medically accurate for Todd to be doing cosmetic surgery, which leads to a discussion of gender identity and appropriate terms (like “cis” and “queer”). “This is something I wish everyone would converse about so they could totally understand,” Donald says. Even though the conversation is evolving quickly, which can make people feel left behind and reluctant to engage, it’s still important to do so because “It’s a matter of respecting what makes people happy that has no reflection on you,” Zach says. “It doesn’t harm you at all to know what people would like to be called, and it costs you nothing to give people your respect.” Then Neva calls in to tell them about her incredibly stressful pandemic year as an ICU nurse, and ask what they would do that isn’t in the entertainment industry. Hear the entire hilarious (and heartwarming) conversation on this episode of Fake Doctors, Real Friends.
