NASA Says a "School Bus-Size" Asteroid to Roll Past Earth this Week

NASA says an asteroid the size of a school-bus will fly by Earth this Thursday.

According to Paul Chodas, director of the Center for Near-Earth Object Studies (CNEOS) at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, despite its size there isn't any concern for impact.

"There are a large number of tiny asteroids like this one, and several of them approach our planet as close as this several times every year. In fact, asteroids of this size impact our atmosphere at an average rate of about once every year or two."

Scientists say the asteroid will fly by at about 4:12am PST over the Southeastern Pacific and will continue to go around the sun, not coming back near our planet until 2041.
