Student Arrested After Attempting WWE 'RKO' Finishing Move On Principal

A high school student in Florida was arrested this week after he attempted to hit his principal with a popular WWE finishing move, known as the 'RKO'.

According to reports, Gianny Sosa, 18, was allegedly trying to perform the the finishing move made popular by the WWE's Randy Orton. The move involves sneaking up on an opponent and grabbing his head, pulling it to the ground (as seen in this video).

In video of the incident at the school, Sosa can be heard yelling "RKO!" as he attempts the attack. However, Principal Humberto Miret was able to stop the teen and subdued him instead.

Police say Miret was adamant to press charges against Sosa, WPLG reports.

Sosa was arrested and charged with battery on a school official. Roy Ugarte, a lawyer for Sosa, said the arrest report was "hands down one of the most insane things" he had ever read.

"Everyone knows wrestling is fake," Ugarte said in court, according to the Miami Herald. "It shouldn't have been arrestable."

Ugarte claims Sosa was merely horsing around and that he didn't intend on attacking his principal. According to the New York Post, Sosa has multiple videos on his Instagram page in which he performs the RKO finishing move on random things in public.

In video posted to his Instagram page, Sosa also claimed the principal struck him during the incident.

The Office of Communications for Miami-Dade Schools released a statement about the incident on Thursday, writing:

“Miami-Dade County Public Schools works diligently to cultivate a safe learning and working environment for students and staff. It’s unfortunate that anyone would instigate a situation for self-promotion that could bring harm to others. Instances of disruptive and threatening behavior will be handled swiftly and result in severe consequences. In addition to an arrest, the student’s lack of judgment will result in disciplinary actions in accordance with our Code of Student Conduct.”

A judge found probable cause for the charges and gave Sosa pre-trial services meaning the teen was released without posting bond.
